Why you should blog for your business?


There are a lot of things you can blog on. But perhaps I am getting ahead of myself – why exactly should every business blog? What are the advantages to blogging on your website?

Give a human face to your business

People like to think they’re dealing with real people over the Internet, especially if they’re willing to hand over their hard-earned cash to a business. A blog humanises you, brings out your personality and (hopefully) makes you likeable to your customers.

Ask for feedback

Have you ever tried to get any feedback from customers? Sending out copies by mail or email, giving out pen and paper or talking to each and everyone who walks into your shop? It’s time consuming and your return rate probably looks grimmer than a cemetery at night. Blogging can help you reach out to your customers and by posting an article and asking for feedback, you’re providing a forum where everyone can participate easily, at the click of a button.

Solidify your reputation as a though leader

By providing (free!) information and sharing your expertise, you can show your readers how knowledgeable you are in your industry. As more people read your blog, they will ask for your advice , the better your reputation will be.

Increased search results ranking

Everyone wants to be #1 and on the Internet, #1 means being at the top of that Google search results page. Aside from SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) keyword techniques, blogging can help you by providing high-quality, relevant and dynamic content. And Google loves high-quality, relevant and dynamic content! It draws people to your blog (and site), making Google think your page is really important and thereby giving it higher ranking and drawing even more people to your site.

Obviously, the main benefit is that you can gain customers and increase your sales. Eventually you’ll want those eyeballs to be converted into actual customers and cash. Blogging doesn’t really take much time, especially if you’re talking about things you already know, and just writing it down and organising your knowledge. Do it regularly, and don’t leave your blog dry for long periods of time. And remember, it’s not a quick-fix to any business problems you have. Blogging can be a great asset, but it’s something that’s built over time, much like your business’ good reputation.
